Sustainability
Sustainability at our core
At Three Apples Leather, sustainability isn't just a feature - its a foundation.
That's why we exclusively use full-grain, vegetable-tanned leather - a natural. environmentally conscious alternative to the widely used chrome tanning process.
Vegetable tanning is an age-old craft that uses organic tannins extracted from bark, leaves, and other plant sources. This process is slower, taking several weeks to complete - but it results in leather that is not only more durable and character rich, but also biodegradable and free from harmful chemicals.
Materials Matter
In contrast, chrome tanning relies on heavy metals and synthetic compounds that pose serious environmental risks. The waste produced is toxic, difficult to dispose of safely, and harmful to both ecosystems and the people working in those tanneries.
By choosing vegetable tanned leather, we reduce our environmental footprint and honour a method that aligns with our values: respect for nature, intentional design, and long-term durability.
We believe that every choice matters - from the way a wallet is stitched to the way its materials are sourced. That's why every piece we make is a commitment to craftsmanship, sustainability, and conscious living.
